A great reading at the Wild Pug

Well, last night marked the first in what promises to be a series of open mic (mike?--I never know) readings at the Wild Pug, a great new bar in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago (Thanks to Brian and Steve for hosting the event)wild pug poster. Featured readers at last night's reading included Bill Konisgberg, author of the amazing novel Out of the Pocket; Craig Seymour, the author of the page-turning memoir All I Could Bare; the witty, funny and gracious Gregg Shapiro, author of the poetry volume Protection; and yours truly. The evening included open mic readings as well as a sort of series of impromptu confessions at the microphone for free drink tokens, and bartender Craig reading dirty haikus. It looks like this will become a regular, second Thursday of every month type event. I'll keep updates as to who the featured readers will be and also any special monthly themes. Finally, a big shout out to the Uptown Borders book store for stocking signed copies of all the titles.
